Welcome to the Spring Term edition of our newsletter. There have been lots of activities and visits during the last term that you can now view in full glorious colour in our newsletter and on the Academy’s website.

On 3rd March there was a day devoted to PSHE (Personal, Social, Health Education);it was a tremendous success and included various activities such as health awareness, social behaviour and careers. More information on pages 15 and 16.

Well done to all students involved in the Debate Mate competition as Harborne Academy was ranked 1st in West Midlands and 7th nationally. Detailed report on page 3.

Some Year 11 students participated in an intensive, immersive, motivational and inspirational programme called Pet-Xi from 29th February till 4th March. The training had a positive impact on their progress as it was carefully structured to achieve optimal learning. More details including students feedback on page 6.

We would like to welcome Miss Broadway, who has been brought in to lead KS3 as an interim measure. She is an English & P.E. specialist with many years of teaching experience. We wish her every success and are very delighted to have her joining us.

Finally after a term full of amazing performances, I am looking forward to an equally glorious performance in the exam halls in the summer. As I probably too often say to the children, the only place success comes before work is in the dictionary. Your constant encouragement and support of your sons and/or daughters in the work/practice/rehearsal/revision which leads to the success will certainly pay dividends. I hope you’re already revising hard – make sure you see your teachers for guidance about how to revise effectively. Best of luck – but it’s more about sound preparation!

I am sure you will join me in thanking both students and staff for an excellent term’s work and once again I would like to thank you for your continued help and support.
I hope you and your family have an enjoyable and restful Easter break and look forward to seeing your children refreshed and ready to learn!

Please enjoy reading this newsletter and let us know if you would like tosee any regular features appearing. Next term will be inevitably busy, isn't every term here at Harborne Academy?

Best wishes

Mr. C. Hilton

Headteacher
