PTA: Parent Teacher Association

Harborne Academy PTA is an opportunity for parents/guardians to get involved and support the school.

The meetings give the opportunity to speak to the head Mrs Ross and other parents about any topics that support the school rather than individual concerns. Individual concerns should be addressed by contacting your Head of Year on enquiry@harborneacademy.co.uk

Topics discussed at the meeting have included:

  • parent support at enrichment events such as assisting on trips, supporting school productions and helping at the Christmas and summer fairs.
  • parent support for the school and its connection with the local community such as talking about the school to potential new students and their parents/guardians at open days, and fundraising in the local community (local businesses are supportive in donating prizes for our fairs)
  • parent support in educational areas such as volunteering to invigilate exams, read with students and support students taking home language GCSEs. Discussions on how to improve revision skills for exams led to the revision guide being created for our Y10 and Y11 students.
  • parent support of students and their families such as setting up and help running the second hand uniform shop.

If you are interested in getting involved and coming to the meetings or if you cannot attend the meetings but are able to support some of the areas discussed above please email gemma.clarke@harborneacademy.co.uk

You can give as little or as much time as you have available. Parent support is always welcome!

Meeting dates and PTA news will be announced on the weekly newsletter.
