Stopping and parking outside the Academy

Posted on: 23/01/2019

Dear parent/carer,

RE. Stopping and parking outside of the Academy

Unfortunately, we have regular instances of inappropriate stopping and parking outside of the Academy. In addition to unnecessary congestion, this is presenting safeguarding issues for our students.

We have been in contact with West Midlands Police who have asked us to remind you of the following:

It is illegal to stop or park:

  • On double yellow lines;
  • On zig-zags;
  • On pavements;
  • Blocking driveways or dropped kerbs;
  • In bus lanes.

    You should also NOT stop or park at the bottom of the Academy drive way, which should be kept clear at all times.

    The Police has asked us to record photographic evidence of drivers who are breaking the rules set out above and forward it to them for the consideration of issuing fines and penalty points.

    There are plenty of side roads close to the Academy on which you are able to park safely and considerately in order to collect and drop off children. This will help to ensure the safety of your child and others.

    Yours faithfully,

    Mr K. Keelan

    Assistant Headteacher and Designated Safeguarding Lead
